Well no one posted to me telling me NO don't adopt the blue crown!

I went to meet him in my mustang so there was no way I could walk out with him and his cage without thinking it over.

I fell in love after he sat on me, pulling my hair out of my bun and preening it, and chatting up a storm, telling me constantly to ... "step up" haha.

He's snotty, but I know it has to do with the fact that he had the run of the house and his owner was scared of him.

I did clip his wings and he got his nails done and he's been sitting with me for hours now, playing and chatting up a storm. We did take a snack and water break of course. He's been giving kisses and cackling laughing all night.

It wasn't my plan to get another bird that "someone else didn't want" but he is bonding with me already and being so much sweeter to me than his other owner it's almost like another bird. I am really happy, he seriously is a different bird with me and is really happy. I wasn't planning on handling him at all but the move didn't stress him and he was very content and happy to come out and be a part of the household with me so we've just been hanging out all night.

I've decided to name him Rio after watching many macaw movies on youtube with that name :)

:green:

Congrats!! I'm glad you have him!! Pictures!

Here he is!

I love that beak!! He's precious! Cute lil green bird! Teehee!

Aww it's good to hear you got on so well. Congrats! He's lovely.

Thank you!! I was really stressed at first being sucked into the guilt of craigslist but I made a great friendship with his old family and he's 10000 times more friendly to me than his old owner so I am extremely satisfied. I was worried at first seeing that she was afraid of him but, he's so comfortable with me and my house. He gives kisses and is such a doll. I am so happy that she rehomed him to me!!! Petri was screetching up a storm and they were chatting to eachother across the house, it was a bit hectic but I am hopeful that they can play together eventually. Conures are so funny, they just want to be with you all the time and love attention.

That's what I love about conures. :] As the previous owner was scared of him he could probably sense this, but it's good that you've devolved such a good relationship already.

co ngrats on the new baby and by the way I love the goldfish the lionhead?and calico in the background. I always wanted a big aquarium of goldfish. and by the way a lot of us on here are the wrong people to ask "should I get another bird"? most of us seem to be woefully lacking in willpower which is why a lot of us end up with more than one. hehe, myself included :D

Congrats! Rio is a handsome bird. I love the fish, too, hehe.

Just don't let him watch the movie "Paulie" he might get a complex. a Joe Pessie (sp) voice acck!

Hahaha! When I was looking up species info it said blue crowns weren't that popular until that movie came out, "best kept secret" or something like that haha.

I'm still shocked what a different bird this is. I was really thinking I wasn't thrilled about getting a bird I had to really work with and the owner made me scared of him too at first. Then when her husband handled him, I saw a different bird too. He didn't try to bite the husband at all. These guys can smell the fear pouring off of us!!!

Rio was already biting at the goldies as they swam by begging for food haha. It's an 80 gallon hexagon tube tank, I have mostly oranda in there but there are 2 ranchus which look like lion heads and a ryukin, along with some bristle nose plecos. :D

Congratulations! He is gorgeous. It is wonderful that he has settled in so quickly. They are incredible birds. :-)

Oh I know it was like he didn't move at all!! I think he was just as happy to move as his old owners kids were happy that he was moving.

Right now he's doing this outrageously long smooch noise and presses his beak to my cheak....and I do feel some tongue.....little brat!! I will get that on camera ASAP!!

Thanks for the pictures of the goldfish What a neat looking tank. I have never seen one like that. Now I want one. Not going to happen but I can dream :D

Rio was ALWAYS supposed to be with you, and was just waiting to get there. He's beautiful. Congratulations.

Congrats on your new addition. As said before not many of us here can say no to a another bird. I ended up with my ekkie when we met her while visiting our baby grey. I wouldnt change it either. I just love my babies. I also love that aquarium. I have never seen one like that. Very nice family ya got there.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. He's a bit loud but he's so amazing and loving. I wish you all could see how he acted when I first met him with his owner then with me. What a surprise!!
