Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
...for Thursday, the 6th,for Amy and the Beebs.

Amy is going to get her nails done, and get her sleeves shortened, ( warmer weather is just around the corner.woohooo!!) and a wellness check.

BB is going for a nail trim and wellness check..Even though ALLPETS,the pet store I frequent, has a young lady with about 10 years experience doing these type of things ( and it is a little cheaper, and closer to home) I still prefer their CAV..and "BIRD" is what they specialize in ( Kensington BIRD and Animal Hospital) I decided to let BB keep his long sleeves...he is flying a lot more now,but still has some slight problems with his landings at times. He has managed quite well with landing on my flat screen,or on the shelf over looking the kitchen sink..even the top of my HEAD a couple times, but I want him to learn so its just second nature before I even think about a clip. I sure would love to take him outside with Amy..seriously now thinking of a harness or flight suit.so...if I do...what do you suggest? and from whom? I do a lot of business with "Windy City Parrots" in Chicago..and Doctor Someone? lol..and what size should I look at??

STEVEN??? ( Boats) what questions should I ask Amys' Doctor, concerning getting her to try and learn to fly?? Maybe I ought to get her a harness also, but would want to know that she is healthy enough to try and fly first??

Jim,
The goal is a full respiratory system check-up; Heart, Air Sacks, and Blood (marker) testing that define the functionality of the respiratory system. Prior to your CAV starting, tell him that you are considering building Amy's flight muscles to allow her a safer glide / short flight exercise. No, you are not planing free flight outside, only greater safety in home. Pass along that Amy recently flew a short distance and you want to ensure that she is healthy enough for that and a bit more activity.

Please remember to ask to hear Amy's heart beat. And, if you have been work at getting Amy chest up to your ear, when you need target for best hearing her Heart! Also, have him classify what your are hearing; a rested state, a medium active state, etc... The point being, you want to know what to lesson for when Amy does a room crossing or a multi-trip around the room work-out.

The goal is to know when you need to Stop! Heavy breathing is a clear indicator to Stop, but a run away heart rate is a Mad Dash to your CAV. Without assuring that Amy's health will support more activity and understanding what her Heart rate is, you have no place to start from.

Hope this helps!
