What is the most rehomed bird in your area? Please state your area nad which species of bird you think is the most rehomed or surrendered to pet shops, rescues, new owners, etc.

Here (VT, USA), I think it's budgies.

This is also a survey, so please, if you see this thread, take a minute out of your day to just comment what you think!

I'm in Alberta, Canada and here I would say it's Conures, followed by Finches and Budgies.

I will see what birds are available in Cheeky Beaks Parrot Rescue at the moment. I will add the numbers here.

On Gumtree, most of the birds are budgies. Sadly they seem to be a common pet to rehome.

ETA:

CORRECTION:

By available, I mean birds living in the rescue.

No worries Pipp, this is an extremely well done post.

Greys do come up here often as well, which always surprises me. Both of my CAGS were given to me.

I see this thread but I have no idea😛 I don't have any data

Honestly I know just one rescue bird center in Poland but they have just escapees, so I don't think it counts

I have no data for any pet shops... In the past I was seeing how others were rehoming their parrots on fb groups but they were just single posts + most of them I saw on a conure group so it doesn't count again because of not including other parrots

Shortly: I have no enough data to mention any species

In my area not a lot, we have one centre that takes them but doesn’t really like to rehome them.
but in the UK we only have 3 main parrot charity rescues, maybe a couple of smaller ones dotted around.
anyway, it definitely is CAG every Month there are new ones looking for homes.Amazon’s, Alexandrines, IRN, and Macaws pop up regularly too, even young ones. I think the biggest is one called Problem Parrots, not a great name when you’re trying to find a new home for your wards!
I did go to one centre- a private ‘collector’ had had a few acres and built aviaries, so takes in unwanted parrots and gives them a permanent home. The CAG aviary was huge & must have had 60 in it. So was the Alexadrines And budgies, he also had about 25 Macaws of different types, all free , but they knew where the food was coming from. He opens to the public so he can raise money for their care. lots were free flighted to just fly around the centre as they pleased.
this cute little fella below, followed us around for ages, he wouldn’t leave me alone , he managed to break my zip, chew my hair clip and then went to my hubby and broke his watch strap. He left us and started on the next persons shoelaces that was sitting on a bench. Free but still destructive. I’m sorry I don’t know what he is. I couldn’t get a pic of the CAG enclosure as it was so big I couldn’t get it in frame.

The big problem with places like this rescue @Talaya mentioned is that once the owner of the property passes away (and we all pass away), unless he is fortunate enough to leave a sizeable chunk of $$$ in his will, all these rescued, but not rehomed, parrots are going to suffer, a lot. Sounds like he has an adequate facility for flocks this size, but who cares for them once he is gone?

Up here in Manitoba, Canada, it's easily cockatiels, Budgies and Green Cheek Conures. Lovebirds are in there as well, but they're not as common.

EXACTLY! They just had a huge fiasco with Greyhaven exotic rescue a few years back here in Canada. The property was sold and they had 3 months to clear out all the birds :(
