What kind of wood

Friend of mine used this for he's perches with out even verifying its safe or not.... I'm planning to use it but first I'm need to make sure if its safe... did some research and couldn't fine anything.... any of yo guys know what kind of tree is this?

It looks like it could possibly be a Crape Myrtle. If it is, then yes, the wood is safe to use.

GAAAH! We JUST lost our white Crepe Myrtle to Ambrosia Beetles, and our purple one seemed to have sustained major winter damage.

...time to move to a better climate.... (not nearly soon enough)
