Won't go to the bottom of their cage

My two cuties have been in their new, much larger, cage for 2 weeks now. I know they are happy because they sing and chatter all the time. They, however, stay on their perches and never go to the bottom of the cage. I'd like for them to play with the toys that are there and maybe take a bath in their little tub. Any suggestions on what I should do or should I just leave them be if they are content on their perches?

It's kind of a curse of sorts. MANY birds want to be as high up as possible at all times. I have a 6ft tall cage, and my ekkie only uses the top 3ft. It's good that he has all that space but the cage takes up so much room I do get a little resentful of the wasted space. He only ever crawls down to the bottom to get some food bit that fell down there or to crawl down to the floor to come over.

There might not be much you can do.

Perhaps some millet? I would maybe move the food bowl a little lower so they have to go down there and get familiar with it

Birds wake up hungry in the mornings and more willing to peck and hunt for food. I would suggest first thing in the morning remove their regular food dishes for an hour and then scatter regular food and yummy treats on either a clean plate at the bottom or on top of freshly placed newspaper. Just remember food on bottom of the cage should be tossed after a few hours because it will get filthy.

ETA: Mine prefer to eat their sprouts and birdie bread from the cage floor only regular seed and pellets go in the hanging food dishes.
