Would this cage be good for a Meyers?

It would not be large enough for mine. I started out with a cage that size hoping that it would be. My Meyer's just sat there. After a couple of weeks, I moved in to a flight cage which is 21 inches deep, 32 inches wide, and about 36 inches tall. It was like someone turned on a switch! My bird just came to life! I then started using the small cage as a secondary spot in another room. Due to her apparent depression whenever in the cage, I bought another larger cage for the other room as well. Now I only use the small one when travelling. I would go with a cheaper but larger cage if money is an issue. One of my cages is a flight cage intented for parakeets I think. The bar spacing is only 1/2 inch. I then built an incredible cage top for it. Her other cage has one inch bar spacing but is the same size as the flight cage and has a factory made playtop. I got it off of craigslist. The bar spacing is too wide, so she can only be in the cage when we are home and with her. She definately prefers the wider bar spacing. However, at this time, she will have to settle for what she has. Ideally, I would have 3/4 inch spacing.

My bird spends about 6 to 8 hours a day out of her cage and flies around a lot. Even so, the smaller cage made her depressed and depressing.

have to agree, main cage needs to be big! althought nut cannot fly in her cage, she has enough space to climb, perch hop etc

nuts cage is 32in wide, 35 at highest point and 18 deep

its not that big when its filled with toys etc, look for a quality 2nd hand one if money is tight, but also one that has removable grates etc for easy cleaning

Thanks, I had a feeling. I pulled the plug on larger version of the same cage-- not massive but bigger. He's been living in a small cage for over a year-- around 17 1/2 x 17 1/2 x 24, and he's pretty active in there, but the one I got will give him more space and options.

thanks all :)

A cage can never be too big. I got this one off Craigslist for my GCC. 32x24x67, with 46" interior. Great size AND has storage underneath.

Thanks again all-- I found a killer deal on Craigslist just this afternoon. I cancelled the order for the cage I had bought and paid *fifty bucks* for a way bigger, wonderful cage for G and it was only a half hour away! I just washed it down with citrasolv and am going to let him sit next to it for a day or two before I move him in.

His old cage looks so pathetic next to this one, poor guy:
