Wrangler and Liesl just met 2 weeks ago when they both came home with me. Wrangler is a rescue passed on from Brittany, Liesl is the baby I just got from a breeder. Wrangler thinks he's cassanova, Liesl is not impressed. Add to this that Wrangler is a mass of hormones at the moment and he spends every second out of his cage plotting how to reach her. Im pretty aware of his motives so he rarely gets a chance to go visit, but when he does he hops around the top of her cage plucking at her toys and generally annoying her with his presence.

He made it over for a visit today and sure enough after a few minutes of trying to untie her leather cord, picking at her paper tube, and avoiding my attempts to catch him and return him to his cage while he still had all of his toes, Liesl rose to the bait and the beaks started to fly between the bars. Wrangler from above, Liesl from below. Wrangler wasnt really interested in fighting, he's got other things on his mind, but not one to back down from a challenge he retaliated in kind. Just as I was reaching for the towel to wrap him up and remove him, he reaches down and plucks the wire loop on the boing and drops it into the cage. Liesl was perched ON the boing, so both went to the bottom---splat! He absolutely knew what he was doing, this was no stroke of luck. Have to give the guy credit...pretty impressive way to end a fight, but it's not going to endear Liesl to ya, dude.

Ha ha, I still almost feel bad for Wrangler. Just because I am sure he will pay for that eventually. I really don't think Liesl is going to take that laying down. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but she is going to be coming for you Wrangler, you just don't know when BWAHAHA!

Still, you have to give the guy props, it was pretty smart.

With all the bites and hormonal female stories, i have no doubt his day will come....as will mine.

Maybe we will get lucky? In another year or two, not only will the pretty chicken be hitting puberty, so will our human daughter. I might just run away for a few years and hope the storm has passed when I get back. :D JK

Wrangler's trying too hard.
he needs a wing man.

what?

Wrangler is hilarious. Seriously one of the most interesting fids I've ever met, short of an Amazon ;)

Glad things are going well and he has settled in so happily!

Hahaha! just remind the boys she's still a minor....they have to wait a few years.

Oh sounds like Wrangler and my guy Gizmo have the same interpretation of romance, there will be revenge, I'm sure:D

Too funny! Open wire loop- if this is what it sounds like, major danger! Easy for a fid to run one through its beak!

Thanks for the concern. Im well aware of the dangers of C clips so I mostly use the plastic rings for children or zip ties. There was a very graphic example of this danger on FB this week too. The wire running through the boing was sticking out several inches, and since its not ss, I got rid of the excess by making a loop from it. I didnt tighten it down since Im still working on the cage arrangement--she just moved into her "big girl" cage this week. Wrangler may be a clown but he's not going to let you forget just how smart they are :)
