I have a co worker that came to me yesterday after finding out my passion for parrots, and told me that his uncle has a YCA but roughly 3 weeks ago was involved in a horrific car accident that has left him in a very debilitating state. I have seen the pictures of his car and only wonder how he's still alive. I also have pictures of " Timmy " and he is beautiful and definitely well taken care of I will try and get them up as soon as possible. Timmy needs a new companion/s ASAP He is in boarding at the moment as family is tending to the Uncle . I would like to see him stay in the Southern California area as he currently resides in the Palm Springs area and as many times happens there's nobody within the family interested in continuing the care for him. He does come with his cage and a travel carrier. Timmy is 18 years old loves to talk , sing and take showers, Oh and has a 100 word vocabulary.

There is a small adoption fee as the only concern is Timmy and getting him with a loving new family. So if there's anybody who is looking for a friend and lives in SoCal please respond to this thread and we can work out the communication with the family to get interested parties together to help this little guy out.

I might be interested.
I live in the Antelope valley and have a lot of experience with amazon's

Are you looking for a temporary home till your uncle gets back on his feet or a forever home?
Is he friendly to people and able to be handled?

Does he favor male or female humans? A lot of parrots tend to favor one gender or another.

Has Timmy been DNA tested ?

This would be a forever home, and is my coworkers uncle and what he tells me is he is very friendly , I do not know if he's DNA'd . It doesn't appear there's any preference to male or female as I have a picture with a female family member. If there's a way to DM here I can give you his email and that way you can get in direct contact with my coworker.

I’m
So sorry to hear this, thanks you for helping to find him a home!

Firstly I am sorry that there is a major accident. Good on you for rying to help find forever home for this parrot. Yellow crowned Amazons are one of the rarer Amazons and make exellent companions. The are like yellow shoulder amazon n many respects. Smaller, andmore laid back that the "Hot 3". I would be tempted if I was not on the East coast.

Thanks guys for all the Great feedback so far , looks like there could be a few interested parties already so hopefully we can get him a great new forever home.

After sleeping on it and discussing it with my other family members I think I will have to pass.

I would love to have him and I think we could manage it but it might in the long run be better for him to go to someone who can give more one on one time.

I would strongly recommend that this be considered "a temporary home till this friend's uncle gets back on his feet" per the question asked above by texsize. This individual may /will need a reason to recover and his Amazon may just be a corner stone of his recovery. Cannot prove anything, but it sounds like 'others' are acting in his stead.

Texsize , no worries but please keep putting the word out .

Sailboat, I would agree but unfortunately the owner is in no way going to be able to take care of Timmy as he will need much recovery time and will likley be bed ridden. He is also single so there isn't even a spouse to help. This whole deal sucks.

Sorry having technical difficulties, the wreck and cage are being problematic.

If you have not found someone that is a good fit for Timmy I will send an email to get in contact with the family and get the particulars.

It isn't that I don't want Timmy. He looks to be a beautiful bird and he is as big as my yellow nape Bingo.

I have to get my mini-van in shape to make that long of a trip 2 hours + on google maps one way. And I will have to due some moving and grooving with the furniture.

I am still trying to get my 2 Green cheek amazons to co-exist in the same cage. When they are able to get along space won't be a problem. I am sure they will be good friends sooner or later but it's something I can't rush.

Because Timmy will need to be in quarantine for a while he won't be staying in the same room. I may end up having him in my bedroom for a while.

Texsize,

I completely understand and to this point Timmy is still available. I would encourage an email to the family if this is doable for you and your family.

Please keep me in the loop as you have my email for anything that I can help facilitate .

I just want to thank everyone here for the concern and help as Timmy was adopted out just a couple hours ago . A Big thanks to Texsize for all his help and communication.

So sorry to hear of an horrific situation leading to rehoming a beloved companion. I hope your co-worker's uncle recovers as best possible.

Thanks so much for stepping up (pun intended!) to help secure Timmy a forever home. Beautiful bird!!
