Hi,

I recently acquired an elderly (50 yr old) Amazon and she could possibly have sprained her wing during a brief flight across the room.

She is holding her right wing out and is being unusually quiet.

Is there anyone who can confirm that this is the problem?

Thanks! :)

An injury after a simple flight across the room would be very uncommon unless she hit something during that flight. Like an edge of a chair, wall corner or doorway, etc. Or, her landing was off a bit and she dragged that wing. As a result having pulled a muscle, yes, she would hold it out and being quiet would be a common response.

Generally, with in a day or so, she should be back to normal.

Please take the time to read with understanding the: Understanding Amazon Body Language! And second, read: I Love Amazons --. Both sit at the top of the Amazon Sub-Forum! Tons of information!

It could be a feather on/under the wing is out of place.
I have seen this many times with my flock.
