CAG : "Chuck".
Cockatiel: "Mofo"
Hi there all, i have been unfortunate to have lost my first cag ( 3 month old) , after the necropsy by the avian vet , he said that it had choked to death & that this was very unusual .

I was devastated , the vet gave me the address of a local breeder & i was lucky enough to get a baby cag. He was apparently hatched on the 12 Oct 2012 ( i say "He" as i am fairly sure that "it" is a male, as it is slightly darker in colour than my female (Wakka- who sadly choked) , this little chap has not been without incident either as i noticed that he was blowing bubbles from his nostrils (nares) at certain times,,,,there was a clear discharge , & so it was back to the vet, who then said that he had "sinusitis" , sinus were flushed & baytril injections on a daily basis for around 4 days.

Hopefully we are now over this anxious period & he has certainly grown in leaps & bounds. He has progressed from 3 wet feeds per day to 2 feeds od porridge. Because i have handled him so much he is very forgiving & will allow me to fit a "leash" , he will also allow me to turn him over onto his back & tickle his tummy. He is very quiet & only makes an assortment of clicks & other funny noises.

The whole family love him to bits, he definitely has his own character & is starting to explore his cage & surroundings. We have been back to the vet & he now has a clean bill of health !!! :grey:

Welcome to the forum:)

Sorry to hear about the loss of Wakka :( A great tragedy.

Your new addition is adorable:) A little ball of fluff.

Your story is so sad, what exactly did she choke on? Your new little CAG is precious!

Hey,
The vet said that her lungs had some dark coloured "fluid" in them, not quite sure what it was,,,,,,,,,,,
The new chap ( thinking of calling him "Peanut" ) is doing well and has lost all his baby fluff , is still bald in a few areas , but has grown significantly !!! See pics attached.

How old is Peanut? He is so cute!

I have always wanted a Congo African Grey Parrot. I live in Australia, sadly, there's not a lot of African grey here. Last time I saw a beautiful 17 week old hand rised female congo African grey on sale at a pet shop for $9000! That's a lot of money. If it was cheaper I would of brought her home :(
