Don't worry people, I washed out the can before I gave it to him. He's just trying to drink the water drips left in the can :).
Diesel loves playing with cans! I think its the noise they make when they hit our wooden floor after he tosses them from the top of his cage! That's what happened immediately after this photo was taken

In case he ever gets rambunctious in his playing with the cans and any blood shows up on his beak, it'll probably be a cut tongue & something you'll just have to let stop on its own, though healthy birds will normally stop bleeding quickly unless they have cut/damaged an artery.

Cute pose though.....

I'm sure he's having a blast with it, but I would be worried he'd cut his tongue or foot on the drink opening.

Cute photo but I too would be concerned with the metal cutting his tongue. If he likes tipping it up to get the water drops, what about a plastic water bottle instead to play with:)

Knowing the strength of Alex beaks, there's no way I'd let mine play with a can! What if a tiny fragment worked its way off and into Diesel's gut? We've already seen what 'safe' metal toys can do to kill or maim a bird. The sharp edges on the opening as well as the ease with which aluminium can be bent and bits snapped off would make that just too dangerous for me. I've cut my own mouth on aluminium and steel cans. I can just picture Barney or Madge getting an upper or lower mandible wedged in that vicious little hole and doing major damage! Not to mention the fright at having a can stuck to their head. My recommendation would be to give Diesel safer stuff to play with. :)
