Hi everyone,

I bought 2 parakeets one week ago from a pet shop. They told me they are around 1 year old.
However, I am not sure about their +
Gender especially the blue one.
Can anybody tell me their gender? How percent are you sure?

Thanks a lot,
Dawood

The blue one is female and the green male. :)
100% sure unless the lighting or camera are playing tricks on me.

Also the green one certainly does NOT look a year old. He still has his baby bars on his forehead indicating that he has not gone through his first molt yet.

I would say the blue one is a girl. The green one is definitely a male (100%). I agree with moonchild, there is no way the green one is even close to a year. He's just a baby. The barring on his head gives that away! So cute!!! :)

moonchild and ZoeyFredrik, Thank you so much.

I was confusing about the gender of the blue parakeet due to its cere has a light bluish color.

And I should clarify what the pet shop agent told me that their parakeets don't exceed 1 year.

Again, I appreciate your help.

Ditto to what's been said! I'd say these babies are probably within the 3-4 month age range, maybe 5 months max? The green one could be even younger.

Check out this thread for the pictures I posted!

Is HE actually a SHE? Please Help.

Welcome!

It is pretty confusing when they say "blue means male" and "brown means female" - then you have budgies with white ceres that may have varying amounts of color on them, or ones with pink ceres! Many people associate the color pink with girls, and since the cere is not blue, will automatically assume that pink cere budgies are females, when in fact they are males!

Once you figure out the differences between them though, it gets easier! :)

I have to agree with Monica about the approx age of them. And their sexes too, green one male, blue one female.
