Some of you may have read my other threads about how Lily was constantly attacking and charging at my boyfriend when entering the room and I found out why. Her cage was in our room when we got her (we have a very large room) and being a first time large bird owner, I let her go u see the covers in my bed every morning[emoji51] She very quickly claimed our bed as her nesting area and became very territorial of it. Since her last visit to the vet, I learned that it is not good to let them go under covers. So, about 2 weeks ago, we moved her cage downstairs and her behavior completely changed. She is no longer aggressive and is sweet with everyone. I don't pet her as much anymore and try to do more playing with her, she is no longer allowed to "nest" under covers anymore and I think this has helped in a number of ways. Since moving her downstairs she realizes that she no longer has the power that she once had when her cage was upstairs, it seems like she felt it was her "territory". The way these birds think just baffles me and I'm learning more and more every day. If anyone has had any similar experiences or suggestions let me know! These birds have a highly complex way of thinking! Wow!! And also, Lily is done with her anti-biotics and is a happy girl again! Yay!

think it may just be part of some U2s you have to work
around.
Sammy is very toy aggressive to move toys around in or
outside my wife has to keep him occupied while i change em out.
however he will let me pop the door open and it is ok to clean up after him.
guess he's got me trained. lol
now that i got him put up, he is fighting that lately i will finish my post.
Sammy has an ongoing nest he has been building in a corner of his cage
that i keep throwing out ever since we got him, he is 16,we got him as a rescue at
15. sweet fella but he does get his way. never even tried to bite i do not fear his beak.
however i do not want to do anything that might bring back bad memories since we know little
of his first 15.
very right about how they think.
just when ya think ya got it figured out, something changes.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I'm so glad you found a solution to Lily's territoriality. Hopefully she has also kicked the infection and is as good as new.

Yes, they really do think on a level quite different from ourselves. Whoever coined the idea they are roughly equivalent to 2 or 3 year old children is accurate.
