Re: Sneezing?
lol vets is safest bet if you are unsure
but nut sneezes every now an again, nothing shoots out of her nostrils, unless she's been dunking her head, giving herself a bath in her water bowl temps can swing from 10 degrees C to 20 degrees C in our house, it never really seems to effect her |

Re: Sneezing?
I think a vet would be a good idea too. Puck's tolerance of cold is better than mine. Last week I put him outside in a cage, and it was way too cold for me, but he didn't appear cold.
Sometimes he does shiver/quiver when he's excited (like when I first get home), which is different. Are you sure he's not doing it from excitement? |

Re: Sneezing?
All birds are quivery to some extent. Smaller birds seem to be a bit more so than larger ones. They do tolerate cold better than I do. Yesterday the electric was out for several hours. I was cold and started the wood stove, but they seemed fine. 3 years ago I had a 3 day outage during -36F wind chills. It was horrible, but they did just fine near the wood stove.
My conure sneezes fairly often. She does it sometimes just to get my attention. Like when she stretches for me, she will sneeze so I notice her doing it. If you have any concerns though, take the bird to the vet. |

Re: Sneezing?
I would take Con to the vet. As we all know, birds are great hiding illnesses. Sneezing (unless once in a very while) is usually not a good thing (don't panic). When my sun started sneezing didnt have discharges, but frequently sneezing during the day and seemed so active and healthy. Because I felt it was not normal, I took him to the vet just to be sure he was ok. After a check up, a 'mild' infection was revealed and was given antibiotics for 10 days (suspension) and never sneezed like that again. Like I said, do not panic; there are different kind of sneezes (as well as reasons) nobody knows your bird better than you. Like roxynoodle said, if you have any concerns, take Con to the vet.

Re: Sneezing?
I don't go into work until 5 in the afternoon tomorrow so I think I'll go in early and see about making an appointment for a physical and such. I don't know if he was taken to the vet while at my store but I'd like to know what I'm dealing with now that he's mine. Thanks everyone!

Re: Sneezing?
I have said before all companion birds need to be checked by an avain vet once per year. One does not need to wait until concerned about potential symptoms. I must confess Rosie is late for hers this winter. Lol I must get there.
