Warm enough??

What's his body language like? Are his feathers puffed out, as if to insulate him more, or are they pretty flat on his body? What about when he sleeps? Any shivering?

I keep my birds between 72 and 75. They are tropical, so 68 may be a little chilly. Not enough to kill him, but the added stress could make him more susceptible to illness.

I keep my room at 74 during the day and 72 at night. Unless you sun seems comfortable, I would raise the temp a little.

I wouldn't risk a bird with temps under 70, even in a well insulated home. I also lived in Upstate NY and in Maine - we always kept the house at 70 at the lowest setting. I found that anything below and the birds would start shivering and displaying cold behaviors.
If your Sun is fine, then I guess it's alright, but I personally wouldn't do it.

I've always wondered about that . When I was young I had a neighbor who had his parakeets out in all weather and they did fine. They were out there for years until he moved and took them all with him. I know he bred them too .
Personally ,I wouldnt expose my birds to anything under 68 degrees.
I do have 2 Thermo perches in their cage . One likes to sleep on it and the other only once in a while do I see him on it , but its never for too long.
I guess it's a personal preferance too. They are all individuals

Wow, I've had all my birds between approx 37 to 70 degrees and they've been just fine. If it gets a little chilly I'll put the heating on and cover part of the cage but I've never really felt it was 'necessary' to warm them up like that.
If Merlin's outside during the winter (getting to/from transport etc) then I always make sure his cage is covered so the draft doesn't get him and I keep him out for as little time as possible but he seems just fine, he puffs up, then warms up again when we're inside somewhere, no harm done.
Wouldn't worry about a 'minor' temperature dip if I were you, unless the birds already sick then some fluctuation is normal. They wern't all born and bread in sunny california.
