My 8 month old conure i had since he was 3 months old has good and bad days. If i give him too much attention on one day I have to barley play with him so he doesnt bite me the next. I dont mind the biting considering i have a african grey that bite me once and ouchie! But when boo bites( my gcc) he means to bite! He does it on purpose! I am starting to get sick of it. And sense his wings grew out recently he is getting brattier and brattier. He only flys to his cage if hes scared otherwise he never flies. but he is getting bratty! How can i change his behavior. I tried clicker training but he is weird. He is scared of treats that arent big seed bars. He is scared of them. Help!:rainbow1::grey:

Some folks won't agree with this but I was having the same problem with mine the beginning of this year. I was told by the lady who manages the store I bought Jasper at that clipping would help. I clipped him and it did mellow him out alot. Today I made an appointment to get him clipped again but mainly for his own safety as pointed out in another thread. I needed to put him in his cage for a little bit this evening because I had to have the door open and he bit me and drew blood. He hasn't done that in a while.

One thing to consider is perhaps not getting him so wound up. If he gets crazy and expects playtime is going to be hyperactivity and lots of attention and play he might be too geared up for that. Maybe try some quiet mellow time, just talking or being near with quiet music.

Patience is the biggest thing and do not ever let them see if you become impatient or annoyed.

1 nanday conure Black Jack, 1 Brotogeris parakeet Whiff, 1 ring neck dove Eliza, and 6 society finches (3 are tame). RIP my parent pairs of societies and my little gouldian finches
I second wulfgeist about the clipping. also, when he bites make him step up over and over about 4-5 times. this teaches control and that every time he bites he has to work hard. take him out often to release any pent up energy and make sure hes getting enough sleep. good luck :)!
