I just put a small deposit on a new baby sun conure! very excited! (haven't told the fiance yet.... lol)
anyway, he (not sure, but calling him a boy) is 5-6 weeks now and the lady said that he should be ready in April, is 11-12 weeks average for babies coming home?

anything I need to do special for him since he will be so young?

also I am excited for a new baby, and am getting another because I can afford it and because I have the room and time, and I want Richard to have company during the day (not in the same cage but same room) but I am worried that Richard will hate me.... any tips from multi bird owners?
thanks

is he weaned? if not you will need formula and syringes so you can feed him. we brought our sun home at 5 1/2 weeks. google and youtube are very helpful.....

she is keeping him till he is weaned, so I am not bringing him home for 5-6 weeks yet. just wondering if that is the average age that they come home

He will be weaned by that time. Basically see how it goes when it comes to having two and them getting along! A sun baby is such a character you are going to love having a sun! Just be careful to curb the screaming and teach him to play with toys while he is still young!

And yes that's about the average age. He will still look like a baby and will most likely be a little wobbly and uncoordinated when he comes home.

I love love love sun conures! They're such clowns. My white eared conure was *not* happy with us when we brought home the GCC.. but we all knew she was lonely as when I got her, she used to share a cage with a budgie so I figured she missed having a roommate. Sure enough with enough time together(supervised) they eventually started hanging out in one cage together, and didn't want to be separated. So even if your current bird seems angry.. it could very well only be temporary. :)

I have a smaller cage, like cockatiel size, can he be in that for a little while with some fun toys and what not?

Depends on what you mean by cockatiel size. I put my sun in an old tiel cage for about a month until I got the new stacker cage I had wanted. (It was 22x16x28) It was also a better option for him because it was smaller and easier for him to get around in the beginning.

Congratulations! Sun conures are so beautiful and such cute little clowns:)
The tiel cage sounds great for him at first...he will be a little clumsy and may fall off his perches at first. You may want to put a towel on the bottom as well for a soft landing:)

I have multiple birds, and they just tolerate each other. They were all older except for my conure, so that may have something to do with it. When I add a new one, everyone is quite curious at first, but none have had hurt feelings so far:)

also, anyone have issues when you have multiple birds that they get bonded to each other and then do not want to interact with you? that is my biggest worry if they are ever caged together....

My pineapple GCC doesn't like me. If he's on(Or near) his cage he will strike, latch on and not let go. He's been with Kiwi since he was roughly 3 months old though. He is fine with my boyfriend, because my boyfriend is the "strict" one and he knows that biting doesn't fly with him. Kiwi on the other hand I've had for over a year now and although she has some cage aggression, she still flies over to me for attention and cuddles just like she did when she was an "only-bird". As long as you keep them socialized it should be fine. I just got the unlucky side of the stick with Loki because I didn't want to handle him in fear of being bit. So learn from my mistake! Hehe.
