Yankee candles, friend or foe?

Hello everyone! As some of you know, I am a new mommy to an adopted eclectus. Do any of you ever burn candles in your home? Is it safe? I know they aerosols are a no no, but I honestly don't know about candles. Please help! I want my baby to be safe!

I do burn candles in my home but they are far away from my 2 boys. Most of my candles are not very strong and are approx 20 feet away from the bird cages. If I have my birds out of the cage, I blow out the candles. Be safe, watch your Parrot at all times, see if they are having a bad reaction to the candles, if so, blow them out and in the trash they go. Also stay away from cheap candles, they contain strong oils that get into the air, this is dangerous for your bird or birds. Best of luck Joe

Nowadays, you have the SOY candles with ESSENTIAL OILS for natural scent that is much safer for your bird's lungs.....

After taking an aromatherapy class, I avoid artificial scents in anything whenever possible. They're a lot more likely to cause allergic reactions.

When I burn candles, I usually just burn plain ones, since the ones with essential oils are expensive. Just realized that I haven't burned any candles since I got my baby a few weeks ago, but I always did with my birds growing up, and they never seemed to have any problems. I'd just make sure it's well-ventilated, and keep an eye on the bird.
