I had the same concern before Tobi found me and it's not that hard.

I buy frozen mixed veggies. (Got to watch the salt content) Then add fresh Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli Green beans carrots Sugar snap peas and what ever else is in season. (Tobi doesn't like cauliflower) After I mix them all together I freeze them in a gallon size zip lock baggie, I thaw Tobi's Breakfast in the micro wave for 30 seconds.

I also put peppers on a sewer for an afternoon snack and the give fruits in the evening. I also pre cut the fruits and freeze them. Freezing them makes them last until they are gone.

He also gets fresh choy mustard greens etc I clip them on the side of his cage with a plastic clothes pin. Tobi finds the close pins fun to destroy. (Glad that they only cost about $2 for 100 of them..)

Be forewarned they eat like a tank. He obviously has never hear the phrase eats like a bird..

ya, i dont know if id find the time and commitment to do THAT much on top of the other pets i have... so i figured it was best to not risk it and allow a bird to suffer. so thats why i decided against a ekkie. im in research stage and wont be getting another bird for several years, but my next one is my choice on species, but im leaning on keeping two daughters from my tiels later down the line.

At that price I really would have to steal him. haha. That is crazy!

I wonder how long they worked on that mutation. I wish I would have learned more about genetics. I always found it interesting, especially come to breeding animals.
