Re: Gross things your fids caused you to do

My bird is pretty "potty trained" (unless scared, but I didn't really work to teach her this--she just knows where she goes and avoids going anywhere else if she isn't on a true perch). Anyway, as I was walking her back to her cage, she got spooked by something and I saw the classic puff/ butt lift, so out goes my hand (catching a giant, warm, Umbrella Cockatoo-sized poo---did I mention it was bath day?! --and I have carpeting) LOL...I had to carry it (trying to contain it within my hand) as I took her back to her cage, before walking to the trash/sink...The sad thing is, the nastiness of this choice didn't even dawn on my until afterwards, when I thought, what has this relationship come to!? lol

I also often eat with her perched nearby and many people can't stand the look of her poops...I could watch it all day and feel nothing lol. Food tastes the same whether or not I am eating with a pooping parrot 3 feet away.

Never ate it that I know of, but she likes to poop on the arms of the chairs and one time I didn't notice that I put my hand in it and then I wiped it on my face. Lovely.

Re: Gross things your fids caused you to do

I can’t even count the amount of gross things I’ve put in/near my mouth thanks to the fids (poop included)! Even though most people probably don’t consider this gross, I hate when I have to eat any raw vegetable to show them it’s not poisonous. Just yesterday I licked my iPad screen to show Bluebell how to play on it (weird, but it worked). Also, the memory of Leo’s first regurgitation directly into my talking mouth still lingers to this day...

Not eating but catching like most birds' owner here...

Everyone of us here is a "Professional Poop Catching"

After having a child, bird's poop is nothing if you clean it few times a day.

For those who has kid, know exactly of what I mean..

Re: Gross things your fids caused you to do

So when we have people over for dinner and we eat in the dining room (i.e. not where the bird cages or the big tree is) we have to wheel in 4 giant cages to the dining room or else they would scream their ever living heads off and also because we love them. I do clean the cages really well before people come over but all 4 of them do poop in the cages whilst we're eating dinner...of course and of course I hold them and such during dinner and since they're all potty trained I asked them "do you need to go poopy" before I pick them up and of course they poop...while everyone is eating and listening to all of this. So yeah...want to come over for dinner sometime? Lol.

Re: Gross things your fids caused you to do

My ex-cockatiel Kang became egg-bound, naturally when the vet was closed (my guys always have their health crises outside regular business hours) and there was nothing for it but for me to massage her bum with olive oil to try and help her pass the egg. Which happily she did, followed by a massive poop Non-bird people wouldn’t understand, but both Kang and I were much relieved and very happy
