My sea green lovebird drank alcohol and is now sick. HELP

I had some whiskey out in the open and the little fellow drank some sips. soon she started feeling tipsy. she is the most active lovebird i have ever seen in my life. but then starting next morning, she started being a little inactive, the second day leading to the same in activeness plus change in voice (voice pitch got much much lower) and also discharge from the nose (that got green when it dried). Today is 4th day and it is the same status... she likes to sleep all the time, and i clear her nose from the dried stuff by carefully wiping it with water every once in a while.

I dont have access to a vet, thought i have access to normal human medicines. I dont want to take her to a human doctor because i feel they are not equipped to deal with a small bird.

Experts please help on what to do.

Are you absolutely sure you are not within driving of any form of vet? I'm afraid I can not help, but you should have been asking for help sooner than 4 days later.
If it is at all possible (even if it is a long drive) take your bird to a vet because that is where it will get the best care.

Hopefully someone will chime in here with some more reassuring help.

Unfortunately four days have passed and the alcohol has made it's way through this birds system actually in a very short time within drinking it.

Whatever damage is done is already too late. I would still try to locate a vet. Where in the world do you live that there is no access to vet care?

nearest vet care is around 90 miles and it is not possible for me to travel that far with a bird. i dont have a transport myself or a transport cage either. i waited for 4 days because i had very strong instinct that she would recover... i still feel so.
But i also want an expert's view on what could be wrong? could it be common cold? she has sipped alcohol couple times before too.. she would act tipsy for half a day and then become normal.

She likely has liver damage. Please see if you have anyone you can ask to drive you out. Otherwise she will surely suffer.

It really bothers me this is not the first time. NO animal should be given alcohol ! Humans even get alcohol poison if given to much. A small bird is just pitiful to be subjected to this. Its not a funny .

Your bird has very delicate systems and she may likely have liver or kidney damage. Any vet or a breeder with knowledge of lovebirds should be contacted immediately.

Definitelt find a way to get to the vet.

And make sure alcohol is not left out ever again. It's an accident the first time, a silly mistake the second time, and utter stupidity any other time. It is dangerous for any animal to drink alcohol.

Only an avian vet can determine what is wrong with your bird.

KEEP THE BOOZE TO YOURSELF, IT CAN KILL YOUR BIRD.

Could you possibly ask someone for a ride there? A transport cage is extremely easy to find, a small cage for hamsters would work out fine and there are inexpensive travel cages for small birds. Which area are you from? Maybe a member from here might be generous enough to assist you and or might now a good vet.

I doubt that there will be any (soon) recoveries. Did you happen to call a vet at the very least to see what you can do rather than just wait? I agree with Kae that there could be damage to their kidney/liver (and much like overdoses, she might need to take medications for the rest of her life).

Im going to be utterly honest, allowing a bird (and any pet for that matter) to consume dangerous food and beverages more than once is truly an asinine behavior. I'm hoping for the best outcome, but please keep drinking and your parrot separate from each other from now.

so i arranged a cab to take her to the vet. when i reached home, she was lying on the cage floor lifeless.

I'm new to this forum and haven't had a bird in over 25 years-but I guess they say common sense is uncommon for a reason.
Horrifically disturbing-the lack of responsibility and care for a pet. These animals put their lives in our hands unknowingly and the moment you take them home, you accept full responsibility for their welfare, care and emotional well being. As with any animal or person for that matter-would you knowingly give poison to someone you love?
A couple sips is a whole serving of water-that couple sips is a bottle of alcohol to us.

Sounds like you think it's pretty funny to get your bird drunk....really sad.

Permitting a bird (or any other animal) to consume any kind of alcohol is downright negligent and abuse.
