strange xray result on amazon,help

Hi, I am new here. i am hoping maybe someone will have had a similar experience and can shed some light on my blue front amazons health issue.
I have had her for 6 months. I bought her from a bird pet store. The owner of the store told me she was 10 months old. About three weeks ago I noticed she had thrown up in her sleeping cage at night. When I took her out that morning she seemed ok. When I came home from work that day she had thrown up three more times. she was also acting sick. She was tired, didn't want to come out of the cage and just not herself. We gave her some water and she started to do better. The next morning she was 100% better.
I took her to the vet and had blood work done. The results were norma except she has mild case of anemia.they told me to watch her and bring her back for an x ray. She threw up again one time but has been acting normal. well i got the x ray and tge doctor said he thinks she might be 3-5 years old. he said there is a mass that is pushing on her stomach which is why she has been vomiting. He thinks it could be reproductive related or a tumor or part of the yolk sac if she is in fact younger. He said her leg bones look like they are grimace mature female in the xray. Has anyone heard of this? I'm really worried.

Hi and welcome to the forum, you refer to your BFA as a she, has the bird actually been either DNA or surgically sexed? you stated (He said her leg bones look like they are grimace mature female in the xray.) I've been trying to decipher what that is, I've never heard the term before

I have not heard of this term before either. I assume she is not banded? It definitely is not normal for her to be vomiting. If there is a mass did the vet suggest taking a small aspiration/biopsy from it? This may be needed to determine treatment.

It sounds like your vet is very up in the air about what it could be
I know costs are expensive but have you considered taking the x rays to another vet for 2nd opinion ?

Is your veterinarian and avian spe******t??? A biopsy/aspiration as GC mentioned sounds like a good plan.

Hi again. I am on a real computer now so hopefully my spellling will be better!
My bluefront is not banded. And here is the strange thing I went back to the store where I got her from just to see if I could get more information about how old she is and the lady just kept saying "it's impossible" that she's older than 16 months. She couldn't give me any real information. This is my first parrot and I didn't think too much about the bird not being banded when I bought her.
Also, she has not been DNA tested. The vet thinks she is female just by the leg bones in the xray.
He suggest that I wait a month and then take her in for another xray and if the mass is the same or has grown then he wants to take a scope with a camera and check out what this mass actually is.
He seems to think we can wait because she is not acting sick. He seems to really know his stuff. I just wish I had some real answers, i'm worried sick here!

Maybe its just me, but I'm confused, you have a bird thats sick, so thats why you take (her) to the vet, blood work comes back somewhat normal, but xrays show a mass, though he doesnt know for sure your bird is female it could be reproductive related, it could be a tumor, or it could be (I don't get this one) a part of the yolk sack if shes younger?, your poor bird has a foreign body inside it and he says lets wait a month and then take another xray, Im not a vet, and don't profess to know more than the vet you went to see, but things that your relaying to us that he told you scare me, you might consider getting a second opinion, saying the bird isnt sick so its ok to wait a month before doing anything just seems very strange and could cost your bird its health, or worse, just curious, is he an actual avian vet, or just a general practice vet?

I agree with Bobby. Definitely get a second opinion. I have never heard about assuming a birds sex just by xray of leg bones. I go to a very well known avian spe******t and he says you can not tell by xray if a bird is female unless there is an egg present. Your bird was vomiting! This is definitely not a healthy bird. I would hate for you to wait to long and have whatever is present end up killing your bird. Can I ask where you are located?

I live in Ventura county California. The vet is an avian vet. I probably should get a second opinion regardless.

we all know just how well our fids hide illness the fact she has a tumour or such like is cause for concern in itself and to be throwing up means she is no longer able to hide this illness
this bird could be in serious trouble
and what does the vet mean by somewhat normal bloodwork ?

Please seek another opinion the extra cost could save your birds life and we all know how worth it that is

Sorry, I'm the one that used the term "somewhat normal", the vet said the blood tests were normal other than the bird being anemic, which in itself may or not be serious given the bird has a mass, but like I said before I'm not a vet

Please get a second opinion for your own sanity.
It may be something that the 1st vet has never seen and another may have seen that issue.

I always get a second opinion about my major health issues. I have had doctors tell me that they are not familiar with a certain problem. I respect them more for that.

I'm going to try and get a second opinion asap. I'm too worried about her not too.
