Welcome to the forum. :)

Sorry, never heard of Brenda before, and I noticed she has ZERO feedback on BirdBreeders. Looking at the prices of her hybrids raised red flags in my book. :11: YOWSER!!!

That website makes me nervous. Several species names are spelled wrong. I would go elsewhere.

I had to laugh at the 'hand fed quacker' though - shouldn't it have been in the waterfowl section?

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
The Hyacinth prices are in line with going rate...

She seems to be doing 3rd and 4th generation hybrids. The Ruby/Catalina hybrid is pretty incredible looking... not that I am big on hybrids. I always thought Ruby's were amazing looking, but this guy is quite remarkable...

And it's one of those "one of a kind" mark up deals.

She also appears to be a "consignment breeder" i.e. bird broker (she's the middleman.)

Someone else raises them, she sells them. It's actually fairly common.

Yeah, there were a number of typos on that website.

CUBAN AMAZONS, though, at $1,000 per?!

Bolivian Scarletts for $1,600. - not out of line price wise.

i agree i was skeptical with a lot but half the prices seemed on target...

i questioned her further and it was not the typical email of scammers as in "you only pay for shipping and you get a macaw cause they just want it to go to a good home"..... i asked for a website or reviews and she sent me this

CAMELOT MACAWS AND CATALINA MACAWS FOR SALE - camelot macaws for sale, catalina macaws for sale, camelot macaw babies for sale, catalina babies for sale hybrid macaws for sale

Hmm, Sonja is spot on, the link 'jasper19' found is located in Fl, while your link above is the one in VA, the location she gives on Birdbreeders.

I do wonder why she doesn't provide a website on Birdbreeders, and I still say she's asking an arm and a leg for those hybrids.

I live in Vancouver. If you're willing to wait a week I can ask reliable people here their advice: my avet SVD breeders I know for example. However my instinct would be to steer clear!

Ya know, I've been thinking about this for a bit. Perhaps you (the OP) should CALL Brenda and talk to her in person. :) There may be reasons her website isn't listed on Birdbreeders.

She may actually be a very nice person who breeds phenomenal birds. I don't know, and I shouldn't have judged simply by NOT KNOWING.

Numerous years ago I purchased Eclectus from a pretty much 'anonymous' person, and they turned out to be REAL gems. :)

As mentioned in a couple other posts in this thread, Brenda's Birds in Delray Beach is not the same as the Brenda Bird breeder in VA. I live near Brenda's Birds in Delray Beach, an real brick & morter shop, which has been around for quite a while, family owned and run.

So I dug a little deeper and I think she's legit.

I noticed the same super yellow camelot on another macaw breeder's page (with reviews and a website) and emailed them, thinking if Brenda was scamming with this other person's pictures they would want to know. Here's the reply I got:
--
Hi Sarah,

Yes the yellow dom Camelot Macaw Brenda has listed is my bird.
He all so belongs to Brenda. She is now part owner of the pair that produces this beautiful boy and him to. So if you are interested in him don't worry she is not doing anything wrong. She does have him with her now and I think he is probably the prettiest Camelot I have ever seen, so you are perfectly safe in every way with Brenda.

She is a very nice lady and only deals in very unique and extremely beautiful birds so you might just want to call and talk to her about any she has you are interested in, you wont be disappointed.

If you have any questions or I can help in any way please let me know and I will do my best !
