should i buy a new bird??????????

i was wandering what Indian Ringnecks were like and their average cost. I saw an image of one and fell in love with it, also would they get along with my budgies in your opinion? Any facts on this beautiful bird would help

Many here have found that they have to separate birds permanently... some have been fortunate and multiple birds get along.
You just never know! Never, ever.

I think that as long as you're willing to deal with whatever happens (e.g., separating them, if needed, handling added expenses, etc.), you sound like a great parront.

Yeah, you never can tell. Birds are funny people. My cockatiel loves most smol critters, stuffed animals, hands, feet. Serenades them and tries to whisk them off to happily-ever-after land. But he hates Fatty. Usually. Sometimes he will serenade Fatty, but only if one or both of them are in their own homes. Alex *hates * when Fatty drops in for a visit in his house, though. For the most part they are ok when out together, as long as Fatty leaves Alex alone, which sometimes he won't, since he loves him some Alex Bird.

While I am no expert, when I was researching what birds I could get to join my 2 budgies, I realised that it is very risky to keep budgies and ringnecks together, even if they are housed separately and only spend time together out of the cage. While there are cases of ringnecks and budgies getting along okay, ringnecks are much larger (over double the size of budgies) with much larger beaks, and if provoked can cause serious (even fatal) injuries to a small bird like a budgie. Budgies can get a little territorial and aggressive sometimes depending on the bird, and this cheekiness can definitely provoke other birds.

I have a cockatiel, and many people have success with cockatiels and budgies. Cockatiels (particularly females) are very relaxed and mellow. They also aren't as large as ringnecks. When my budgies annoy my cockatiel, she never reacts with more than a hiss.

All this being said, as others have pointed out, you never really know. A ringneck and your budgies may very well get along - but keep in mind that it is quite risky.

I have 2 budgies and an IRN. They share the same room and are in separate cages. I would never leave them out at the same time. As far as getting an IRN, I’m totally in love with mine and Rain makes a great companion. If he could, he’d stay on my shoulder all day long. I keep his wings clipped, and Rain even accompanies me to the grocery store and takes weekly trips with me to visit my elderly mother.

I would suggest you could adopt or rescue an Indian ringneck if opportunity presents itself; especially the color mutation ringnecks- the violets look really stunning.

As to getting along with Budgies; in the same cage or enclosure - a BIG NO!

When kept in separate cages and well supervised yes. When a budgie lands on the ringneck cage, the ringneck can bite off the budgies's tender legs. So do exercise caution there.
