I have a pair of blue and golds they bonded pair both 25 years old they are acting that they will have eggs for me . I have been given a new male macaw which am not sure if I should take him he 6 . Would it put other pair if nesting. Yours Paul

The main question would be: Do you WANT your 25 year old B&Gs to nest, lay eggs, and have babies? Are they set up appropriately for this? Do you have experience in raising chicks?

Adding another bird to your flock may very well upset the existing birds, regardless of gender, if they can see each other and/or hear each other.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Your 2 birds are gorgeous and look very healthy. Have you had them both the whole 25 years (or since they were babies)? The new and much younger bird obviously shouldn't be housed with the bonded pair. He should have his own cage or enclosure, and likely be kept away from them until their breeding season is over or maybe even permanently. Perhaps your birds are outside the 'norm', but as far as I'm aware breeder birds typically aren't as good of "pets" (as in, they want to pay attention to each other and aren't as interactive or affectionate toward the owner, not that they are mean or untamed birds) as single birds or unbonded multiples. Perhaps this new bird, especially being that he is still quite young, could be more of a "pet" for you than your breeders? You know, more of an interactive and affectionate baby

The older pair are avairy. The young one is semi tame . I want the pair to rase there own chicks . No only got these birds last year . I have hand eased ring necks .
