How adorable! Is he a society finch? I used to have a colony of finches and they were lots of fun!

hes a real sweet heart too! i can pet him and give him kisses, he even hops on my hand :) he is parent raised though, and i dont expect him to stay this tame, but who knows ;). he gets scared when i reach in the cage, because he follows his parents reaction, but once hes out hes fine.

Soo cute! You're doing a wonderful job with him Ann! And just because he is parent raised doesn't mean he won't stay friendly, as long as your friend isn't keeping him caged with other finches and continues to handle him he should stay just as tame as he is now :)

good point. he is scared of me in the cage, but he follows his parents. if they fly away, so does he. once he's out, hes just fine to sit on my hand or be pet on the head :21: he also hasnt really "mastered" flying yet. he kinda hops and flutters before plopping on the floor and peeping lol, but hes getting there ;). as soon as he is eating on his own, i will move him to a separate cage so he wont be influenced by the other finches, and work on keeping him tame :)

Cute!

One time I met a woman at the vet's office, and she told me she'd had a friendly finch. The parents didn't feed him, so she ended up hand raising him, and he bonded with humans instead of people. Even though he was caged with finches, he strongly preferred the company of humans, and would throw a fit if he wasn't getting attention! :)

hand fed finches are really cool! i almost bought one, but then i got a parrot instead :). i was planning to hand raise this little one, but didnt have time so i left it to the parents. hand raised finches grow slower so he wouldnt be weaned by the time i went back to school.
