Eye bubble

Hi everyone
I am really hoping someone can help me because I dont know who else to ask. I have a little rescue Pionus. No idea how old she is and she cleared her medical when we got her. Absolute bundle of love and so curious and naughty!

She has a few disorders that we could see with the eye, both her feet have a defect and one wing, but she is living with it and adapted very well. One thing I cannot figure out is when she gets excited or scared she has this little sac-bubble below her eyes that blows up with her breathing. When she breathes in it blows up, when she breathes out it blows down. I have circled the bubbled part of her eye in the image, its only the bottom that does this. Ans sometimes one eye other times both do it.

Any idea what this is or if I should be worried?

Re: Eye bubble

Sounds like a physical defect that involves the air passages and a resulting connection into that /those areas you are seeing a bubble form.
Since this could result in an infection, it is important that you see your Avian Profession sooner rather than later.

Thanks so much SailBoat! The Vet already cleared her health but no one knows what that eye bubble is

Wait, was the Vet aware of the eye bubble issue? If yes, that should have warranted an X-ray at the very minimum. These are fairly rare, but an Avian Qualified or a Certified Avian Vet would be aware of the sources of this kind of issue and had called for an X-ray, plus a Full Spectrum Blood test, if not part of the Wellness Testing.
