Cockatiel- Kalypso
Hello. My next parrot will be a blue or pallid blue quaker. I will be getting her in the beginning of next year or towards the end of this year. Is there any really important information I need to know. I have done lots of research but it is good to hear from expierenced owners.

Congrats! Quakers are great little birds with huge personality's! I would recommend good training early, especially with cage aggression, since it can be a problem with Quakers. Cooper was cage aggressive since I started training late, but afterwords he is great and still is. I also find sometimes Cooper loves to sit on me and get petted and scratched, other times he hates it, so just learn the body language. Good luck, i'm sure when you get your baby you will love them!

Congratulations on your new Quaker! I imagine you're counting the days until she can come home with you. :)

If you haven't already done so, I recommend reading some good books on Quaker parrots, like Mattie Sue Athan's Guide to the Quaker Parrot or Pamela Higdon's The Quaker Parrot: A Guide to a Happy, Healthy Pet. You can never do too much research, so keep it up.

The breeder I am getting them from says that her breeders are best friends with her Cockatiels so I hope he will like my Kalypso and vice versa. They wont be caged together or out of their cages unsupervised but I am really excited.

Congratulations, quakers are great. I've never seen a blue or pallid blue in person, only photos, but wow, beautiful birds.

All birds are different, but my two quakers and my cockatiel play together when they aren't in their cages. My male quaker and my cockatiel are very good friends. My female quaker can be a bully if given the opportunity.

My cockatiel loves everyone and was raised around other birds and the quakers are socialized with other birds too. I think it will turn out great hopefully.

Soon to be 5 week old quaker
I'm about to get a 5 week old baby quaker. And I have been trying to figure out what the baby eats and what the baby lives in. I've seen the bird baby formula which I thought would be all it needs. But I've also heard that if I use a syringe *no needle* I could aspirate the baby. I've also read that the baby needs to stay warm. I didn't know if that goes for a 5week old. I saw using a heat lamp could help. Any help would be great. Thanks
