Hi! I've never fed raw cashews to my conure but I would like to. I researched that it is safe but people have told me that the smoke from roasting cashew nuts have killed their chickens before. Is it just an urban myth?

How any of you feed cashews to their parrots?

Quaker parrot, Ralph
Ralph the Quaker enjoys a little piece of a roasted cashew now and then, and so did George the YCA. Buy them already roasted-- they're commonly available-- and smoke from roasting them yourself won't be an issue. :)

Raw cashews are completely safe for birds
Almonds are probably the best to offer
Mishka has been eating them for over 5 years now and enjoys them

Always offer in moderation

Peanuts are the worst of all nuts & should be avoided.
It's often used as a cheep filler for commercial bird but it isn't the best nut to buy.
Peanuts are grown under ground they can harbor some very harmful fungus.
This makes them dangerous for birds
