Alexandrine Ringneck,
about to be getting a Jardine's
My bird is going through his first molt, and it's a severe one. He looks so mangy, with rough spots all over. The area around his eyes are bare, and his head looks sunken in with all the missing feathers.

The only thing that keeps me from stressing too much is that when I blow on his feathers I can see the tons of pin feathers underneath. I got excited when I blew on his neck and saw a line of pink pins. I just wish the molt would hurry and finish already.

Has anyone else had a really severe molt?

My parrotlet is going through the same thing. Lots and lots of pinnies, some are still pink. And I just checked her today and she has 2 flight feathers on each side that have grown back. She looks ragged, and blotchy.

My Sennie, is also molting, but not as heavy. This is both their first molts. They are both 6 months old.

Yes! The tango bird is going through the same thing and I am also trying hard not to worry about it! She's also covered in pins but has lost quite a few flight feathers.
