I think it's important to know from a health perspective, if your quaker would ever become sick it would be very helpful for your vet to at least know the sex of it. It only costs $20 for a DNA test and I think it is very well worth it.

I also think it's worth it to know. For instance, if your bird is a female, you know to watch out for any potential egg binding problems.
