Giant Moluccan Cocatoo , Green Cheeked Conure
Hello all...
I was looking for answers on how to deal with my new bird, and I found this site. I am pretty desperate for answers, as I am deploying with the Army soon, and will have to leave the new bird at home with the family.
My bird is a Giant Moluccan Cocatoo named Maximus (Max)..Max is a great bird, but is also a bit of a pain. He really reacts badly to my daughter, who is a bit to energetic for him I believe. He likes to be petted and scratched, but sometimes will "trick" us into getting close enough for a beakful of finger. Luckily, I'm quick enough that I haven't been bitten yet. From what I understand though, now he may think that he has the upper hand...but he's a beautiful bird...If anyone can point me to the right forums, I'd appreciate it!

It may help to have Max stick trained so other people can handle him.

He may also enjoy clicker training and learning tricks. This will help to stimulate his brain while also giving him a reason to work for a reward, so he'd look forward to interacting with people.
