Pixie - Hahn's Macaw
When I accidentally broke a branch off my mandarin tree, I put it into Pixie's cage and she loved it - pulling off and chewing all the leaves, and now gradually chewing off the bark. It's also become her favorite perch.

This makes me wonder if I should get a nice plant for her to play with? I'm terrible with plants, and obviously if Pixie pulls all the leaves off a living plant, it won't do so well...

Does anyone have plants for their birds? (I hate fake plants).

Many common and attractive houseplants are TOXIC to parrots. Even the ones that are non-toxic will simply be ripped up and die. I would suggest a nice play stand for your bird to play on.

That makes sense - given Pixie's quick destruction of the leaves, I doubt any non-toxic plant would last long in her grasp :)

Chopped off branches it is, then :)
