Is peppermint oil safe around parrots ?

I bought my cockatiel 2 days ago . He loves sitting on my shoulders and sometimes nibbles on my hair. My concern lies with the peppermint oil treatment I use on my hair. Will it bother him when he sits on my shoulders ? Do I have to put on a scarf for the day after I use it ?

No! Better to not treat your hair with peppermint than to have your Parrot near it!
You are aware that peppermint is used to clean your skin and the area around the hair roots.

Peppermint oil is used to hydrate the scalp and hair. It can be applied from your roots to your ends. It works well with my hair so I will continue to use it. I’ll just put a scarf on my head when handling my cockatiel.

Congrats on your new Tiel! I would also be wary to keep him or her away from the oil when applying it because of the strong scent.
