Is the wood and leaves safe for my conure?

While the fruit is good for birds, in moderation, the bark, leaves & branches have elevated levels of tannins. Tannins can inhibit digestive enzymes, bind protein, and reduce the bioavailability of vitamin B12 and iron. Additionally, at high levels, tannins can cause epithelium and potential liver damage.
