Wow I am speechless looking at the great job you've done here! How did you attach the fabric?

I hand-sewed it in over the existing fabric using a blanket stitch and did the appliqué on the panels before stitching them into the carrier. Kiwi is not a fabric chewer, so he hasn't bothered it at all. But a bird who chews fabric and will pick at thread, this might not work so well with.

And just a bit of an update on this- WORTH EVERY PENNY! Not only has he been enjoying walks and trips out, but he likes just sitting in it at home too. I think it's a cozy little 'nest' thing to him, but he hasn't been extra aggressive, defensive or hormonal, so I'm allowing it (for now). I took the dishes out though, since they just clack around and he's never in there long enough to use them.

I was looking at carriers like yours today but nowhere near as snazzy-looking!! very impressed!! One of these backpacks will probably be my next big buy! :)
