We just moved to a different house, with 70+ birds...and what an adventure that was! The day we had to move them started with a whiteout blizzard, with winds blowing 70+ MPH.We used a Uhaul for the cages, and luckily my friends who own a rescue came and helped us move the birds. Many of my birds are finches, and that was a lot of fun catching them to put them in the carriers.
We got to the new house, and had been able to move most of the large cages out of the old house without taking them apart. So we get to the new house and they won't fit through the front door All the big cages needed to be taken apart in the truck to get inside.
To get the one that does not come apart in the birdroom door, we had to take down the doorframe and bash in the sheet rock behind it to make it fit. It ended up taking us around 10 hours to get everyone moved and back into their cages.
I am hoping I NEVER have to do this again.
The good news is that everyone is settling in nicely, and I now have 3 bird rooms instead of 5
