Rearranged and cleaned Carl's cage today. Added some rope perches and took out the dowling ...he loves it!!! Especially having the big boing rope vertical. Actually explores his cage now and Im pretty sure I heard a noise! Haha

Whenever we are home Carl's cage is open and he's allowed to go in and out as he pleases....normally he just hangs out on top of his cage until I put him in for the night.

The other day I bought some balsa wood blocks for him and hes been happily destroying them ever since. Its such a soft wood the block doesnt last long haha.

Carl is more and more confident each day. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that as soon as Im home from work his door is open and hes free to do what he wants...which usually is hang out on top of his cage and destroy wooden things. He steps up regularly now!

Finally started clicker training with Carl! Has taken him less than 10 minutes to step up on command and travel across the top of his cage for a reward! I hope this is the first step in progressing towards a long lasting friendship

Carl looks brilliant
Welcome to the curious world of the Alexandrines :)
They are super curious, master chewers, little sensitive & really sweet birds.
Wait for the sounds... they are a little shy to start...
have fun :)

Also, today he figured out how to open one of the doors on his cage. Eddie came home to find Carl perched like a king ontop of his cage...

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
What a beautiful bird! I've never handled an Alexandrine, but love their appearance. The head resembles that of a dolphin!!

Slowly but surely Carl is starting to step up without having to coax him with a blueberry. Not often haha, but we are getting there. Hes heaps more vocal lately, and will let you know if you dont let him out of his cage fast enough.
