He's cute, I'm just wondering, I've never heard of an American parrotlet before, is it because the color mutation was developed in the US? or is it just another name for a pacific parrotlet? I know we have no indigenous parrots here, so it can't be because its native to America, just curious
Ok thanks, figured it had to be something like that since we have not native parrots here........I'll look and see if I can find something on the net about them
Ok, apparently they are still Pacific Parrotlets, in or about 1989 the yellow color mutation was first bred in the US, hence the name Yellow American Parrotlete AKA Yellow American Pacific Parrotlete, which differs from the European Yellow and the Lutino in appearence, however they are all still the same species (Pacific Parrotlets), now we know the rest of the story
Very nice bird. I've always wanted a yellow one. But I also fell in love with the green rumped pacific parrotlets. I've had 2 and I still own one today. I love him to death.
