unbearable screaming

My mothers eckkie is almost always screaming lately,he did always scream a lot but if he was outside the cage he wouldn't do it as much.
But now since a few weeks he does it constantly.
My mother pretty much had a breakdown this evening,.
He gets enough sleep he has a sleeping cage upstairs and constant hours.
Today he has been screaming and biting the whole day but he wants to be with you.
My mother got the advise a few months ago the ignore the screaming,but that just isn't possible,even now my ears are ringing.
Does anyone have some advice for my mother?

I do agree with it,my mother did learn him this,if he screamed he got attention.
One off my green cheeks was re homed to me because he was a screamer,it took him one week to learn he wasn't getting anywhere.
