haha! :D Noblemacaw, he always tries to lick my face, stick it in my ears and mouth, but he hasnt tried nose before!
He always wants to give kisses, hes like an overly attached boyfriend, need to tell him to back off sometimes ;) LOL

HAHA He hasnt tried to kiss anyone else though, so dont have to worry about someone putting a restraining order against him yet :54:

Hehehe Tony :09: Maybe he wants to join the group :p

And if anyone is interested in Fargo's other tricks so you dont have to go looking through old threads, this video does each trick- except target and hi 5.. it always has a bit of talking videos.. It was just sorta 'The best of Fargo' kinda video :rolleyes:

Tab, I was wondering since the breeder didn't think you and Fargo would be a good match because he was not friendly I was wondering what he was like when you first brought him home? Did you have to work with him a lot? How old was he when you got him?

You have done such a wonderful job with him teaching him tricks and becoming more social. I wonder how he would do in public. The next step would be to begin to socialize him with other people. I want to do with as well with Valentino because he is very bonded to me and I want him to be friendly to other people as well. Fargo is an awesome blue and gold!

I hope now that I am feeling better I can work with Valentino more. So far he will fly to me and he can roll over. He has started talking in words and phrases in the past two to three weeks and is learning everyday new words and phrases. I also taught him to take beads and foot toys out of a acrylic box. He pulls the drawers open to get what he can see inside. Hopefully when the weather gets better I will be able to take him outside until them I am going to pick up his one on one training to help him focus his attention span better.

Well, the breeders are one the biggest breeders in Queensland i think, they have hundreds of birds, macaws, african greys, amazons, conures, so they tried to socialise the babies as much as possible, but i guess time is limited ?

There were 15 macaw babies, they were all friendly, except Fargo, he was the only boy as well, they called him 'feral', but my idea, is that because he is sooo intelligent, he needed more time spent on him to be friendly ;)

When i got him home he still wasnt super friendly, but after a few days he came down and sat with me and was already flying to me, so it didnt take much at all..

I really think he just needed to see that someone actually wanted to spend time with him and put the effort into him :) Now he is the most cuddly loving bird ever!

He seriously loves people, as soon as someone comes into my room he tries to fly to them or will hang above them saying hello, but only certain people can touch him, he wont let my mum touch him though haha

Thats great progress with Valentino so far!! :) He must be a good talker, Fargo is okay, he says a few words, but the rest is just random jibberish :p

Just use his favourite food and it will get his attention ;)

No kidding, as soon as i walk to the cupboard with the nuts, Fargo instantly flies to his training stand :p

Those are happy stories, when it seems "meant to be"--the right bird went to the right home! It definitely seems you and Fargo were "meant to be"!

Hahaha Thanks guys :D

I think me and Fargo were meant to be :) I think our personalities suit each other, which is why my mum told the breeder we would be good for each other and i was very determined :p

I am glad everyone likes his new trick hehe It isnt a common trick you see most birds doing ;) Its definitely one of my favourites now.... and one of his :p haha

Lol tab I just thought of it we have a rescue too at the rescue that does this actually. He is pretty aggresive and a face biter but loves to stick his tongue out when you do it to him.

Umm, flight recall and stepping up was first ;) and then if my memory is correct it was this sort of order:

Turn around
Shake hands
Hi 5
Wave
Tunnel
Stick em up
Down the slide
Climb the rope
Hello on command
Nod
Roll over
Flip over hand
Kiss on command
Bow

And now sticking his tongue out :p

I need to start focusing on his fetching and retrieving objects now haha

It is amazing what fargo can do. However, you might regret that sticking the tongue out trick just a little bit :54: I can not wait when I get a mini macaw. I might have to take some training tips from you tab. Right now I am working on getting Clover to like her harness.
