Hello fellow bird enthusiasts,
I am sadly at a really terrible time in my life where I have to give up my pets but it does not come without it's challenges.
My African Grey Spiff was diagnosed with PBDF last year. He likely had it since birth. I let his original carer know but at 4 years old, he's sadly not doing too well.
Now he has been around my 6 lovebirds since he came to me so they definitely all have PBFD as well. Luckily, it doesn't seem to affect them at all as it doesn't on smaller species. But they 100% carry it.
As I have to give them up, the question now is: What can I do? I can't give them to a keeper with birds and I can't give them to someone who won't give them the care they deserve. I have contacted parrotrescue and other places, but have gotten either no response or a no to helping me.
I was hoping to maybe find some help here.
About my birds: They are between 6 and 2 years old.
The first two - Nebula and Whiskey - are parents to 3 of them with a special little baby joining us a couple of years ago. They currently have a whole room turned aviary to themselves and have never been in a cage for too long.
Any suggestions or help is much appreciated.
