A place to write your favorite quotes

Yeah, it is Terry! one of my favs!

“a naked man fears no pickpocket,” - Einstein

The quote in my signature is my favorite quote. It's from A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin.

There are also two really memorable quotes from the sequel: “Living, being in the world, was a much greater and stranger thing than she had ever dreamed," and “The Earth is beautiful, and bright, and kindly, but that is not all. The Earth is also terrible, and dark, and cruel. The rabbit shrieks dying in the green meadows. The mountains clench their great hands full of hidden fire. There are sharks in the sea, and there is cruelty in men’s eyes.”

"Just because you have their attention, doesn't mean you have their respect."
- Dale Gribble in King of the Hill

“Projecting your reactions, responses and sensibilities onto someone who is probably far less attuned than you are. It is the mistake of expecting people to give you the same consideration, courtesy and respect that you naturally give them. They won’t. …instead, apply the dictum of “Do unto others as they do unto you.””

this helped me a lot with expecting the same kind of treatment I give to others and then getting annoyed that it wasn’t returned. There’s a fine line between accepting that people won’t give you the same courtesy and respect as you do them, and taking disrespect and accepting their bad treatment of you. It takes effort to find it and to keep that line.

I agree. One thing I learned while working retail jobs is, the "Treat people how you would want to be treated" rule is not good advice. Something that would be fine with you could really irritate another person.
