Budgies
Hi everyone,

I have 5 budgies and would appreciate some advice regarding two of them twinkle and star.

1. Twinkle (blue budgie):
Twinkle previously had a bacterial/fungal infection and was underweight at around 32 g. She received treatment from a specialist and had recovered. Her appetite and behavior is normal. I've noticed two types of droppings like normal poop and brown poop with yellow liquid.

Recently, I've noticed a small lump or bulge in her lower abdomen slightly down from the chest. I'm not sure what could be causing it.

2. Star (green budgie):
I noticed that his chest/breastbone appears slightly more prominent than the others. I'm unsure whether this is normal or a possible body-condition concern.

I've attached photos of both birds.

We are monitoring their condition and, depending on how they progress, will take them to the vet for a check-up.

I'd appreciate any advice on what signs to monitor and what these observations could indicate.

Thank you!

Hello! Adorable birds you have ❤️. Based on the photos, I would say that Twinkle the blue budgie has a slightly distended crop. This could indicate a yeast infection like sour crop. If she was recently on antibiotics for another infection, that could be a contributing factor. Diagnosis and treatment from a vet would be ideal but probiotics can also be helpful if that’s what’s going on. I really can’t tell much about Star from the picture. Weighing a bird is the only way to tell for sure if they are gaining or losing weight. Wishing you and your birds the best! ❤️
