I'm sure there are things in our food we shouldn't be eating but I just can't worry about it because it's so overwhelming and so difficult to avoid or control.
The things that bother me most are manufactured (processed) foods, the insane plastic packaging everything, food and nonfood, comes in, and how even our homes are being made of plastic.
I cringe every time I read the label on some "food" item and in addition to the recognizable, like meat, fish, vegetables and grains, there's a long list of chemicals and a use by date years in the future. And words on the package like "made with real processed American cheese food". WTF? Why not just CHEESE?
I cringe every time I take something out of plastic packaging and have to throw said packaging away. Plastic wrappers, containers, bottles, tubs, lids.
Even our houses are being made out of plastic! Trim, gutters, windows, siding, shutters, piping, and even some "lumber" and fasteners are PLASTIC of some sort. What happened to wood and metal? People say plastic doesn't rot or rust, llke that's such a great thing, but I don't want my footprint around for hundreds or thousands of years after I'm gone! Let my house decay when it gets too old just like my own body will someday.
Sorry. I just had to get this off my chest.
