Budgie keeps chewing foot tag

Hey guys! I have a 9 week old baby budgie (first bird) and I've noticed he tries to chew off his little foot tag. I don't think he'll get any bigger (already fairly big for a budgie imo) and was wondering if it would be better to just take it off?
The reason im asking is because I've read it could be bad to remove them off birds if they are too young.

I've had bands cut off my birds because of issues. The vet has a tool that makes it easy. Or I think you can buy one, but then you'd have to be careful and have someone hold.

I've cut them off before also vets can do it.

Most birds like the bling but some don't.

If your bird is super tame you can just cut it with clippers otherwise I'd have a vet do it.
