So Shorty's cage came a few weeks ago.:D I got a corner style cage that seems large enough honestly; if i found one with a few more inches i think it would've been better...but it's here now & he seems to like it. :blue1:

Right now I have puppy pads on the actual floor and his heating pad in the tray area & his heater on the outside of the cage. He has low perches and a pillow to sleep on, a little mirror, for toys & 2 hanging toys.

I've read a lot that newspaper is the best cage liner but from my last experience with an african grey that i fostered for about 6/8 months it seemed messier than it should. I know corn cob & wood chips can cause mold, fungus and allergies so I wasn't looking into that.

I recently found a non clumping cat litter made from walnut shells that I was thinking of trying...Its called Blue Buffalo Naturally Fresh Pellet Formula.
:confused:Not sure if anyone has tried it but would love some opinions if you check out the product/product pagehttps://bluebuffalo.com/natural-cat-litter/naturally-fresh-pellet-cat-litter/

Absolutely not! Simple news paper is safe, assuming you have a grate to keep your buddy away from it! Every day or so just roll it up and replace!

You would be surprised how many people on the forum have lost birds to the walnut she'll suff. Unlike cats, birds sometimes eat the stuff, get infections or internal lacerations, and die quite suddenly. Newspaper is fine, you can put multiple layers down and just pull the top off if time is a problem. You get used to it...

I splurged and ordered cage liners from Drs. Foster and Smith. Just a touch nicer than newspaper and not much more expensive. Maybe you would prefer them.

I use packing paper. You can get packages of 220 sheets from places like Wal-Mart relatively cheap and I prefer them over newspaper. For one, they are plain white so they make it much easier to monitor what's on the bottom of the cage such as bowl movements. I also think the plain white paper, like cage liners, looks better than newspaper if that is important to you.

I use paper towels because I don't get the newspaper and I always forget to pick one up when I'm out, but I'll always seem to have paper towels on hand.

Newspapers that have Trump's name on them are particularly effective.
