Canary or Finch pellets for a Cockatiel?

So, here’s an update on my everlasting adventure to get Lexa on pellets.

She’s a hardcore seed junkie. I tried countless tricks to get her to eat pellets.
No progress whatsoever.

Because of this, I decided to try some different types of pellets for her.

I’m pretty sure I just found the perfect brand.

She absolutely loves them. She always chooses them over her seeds, and she get so excited and starts chirping when she sees the bag. She will even fly to me from a different room if she hears me open the bag. It’s awesome.

Here’s the catch:

She won’t eat the pellets unless I crush them into tiny pieces.

This has ensued a LOT of work for me, and it’s taking up quite a bit of my time, as it takes hours to crush enough for her to entirely finish in just a few days.

So, I have one question:

Since (for this brand, at least) Canary and Finch pellets have the exact same ingredients as Cockatiel pellets, could I use either the Canary pellets or Finch granules instead of crushing the Cockatiel pellets?

If I can, should I use the Canary or Finch kind?

If the ingredients are the same as Cockatiel pellets there is no problem.
It is not uncommon for a Parrot to (for whatever reason) like only a specific size over all the another sizes. Welcome to another crazy bird thing.

Have you tried Zupreem Fruity Blend for Cockatiels? I know there are people who foo-foo them here because of the "dye" coloring but my BB loves them.

I tried those, it didn’t really work out. I also tried Harrison’s, TOPS, Kaytee, etc
and none of them work! She’s really bad

If the ingredients are the same as Cockatiel pellets there is no problem.

I did! I tried the high potency super fine. It’s a great brand with wonderful customer service but it seems she just won’t accept the pellets, no matter what I do.

I have a friend who runs her normal sized pellets through a food processor/choppy thing. Is that what you're already doing? If not, it might be a bit faster! Cricket prefers his veg at room temp and mushy so I puree it for him and freeze. That would likely work for pellets too (well, you probably don't have to freeze them LOL).

I’ve also covered them in apple sauce, which she normally enjoys, but she still refused to eat the pellets!

That was my initial idea, but I don’t have a food processor, and I’m afraid that if I bought one, it would break and send 40$ down the drain!

You can use a meat tenderizing hammer to crush the pellets. Non-electrical and low cost.
