Hey there,

I'm sure this has been covered before but I'm not seeing a thread.

Just ordered a ton of natural sisal to do a really big cargo net for my aviary.

Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for the cut ends, so they won't fray to much.

It's 2" in thickness do knots will be challenging.

Thanks

You could get 2" PVC caps and non-toxic hot glue and glue them on? that's the only thing i can think of

Or hot glue carefully inside the pvc caps and replace if any glue is exposed.

Or… some other glue, like white glue. But in that case you can’t hose or wash the cargo net.

Wire wrap the ends, or wrap with fine hemp or sisal.

I would frap the ends with thin sisal twine, as suggested above. Tedious but effective.

I would wrap the ends and then pull the fine hemp or sisal under the wrapping using a canvas needle or wire loop.

2” is pretty thick rope. Check it carefully to make sure it hasn’t been treated with any preservatives, oils, tar, anything that might be applied to a working/marine rope. It shouldn’t have any smell.

Good point. Why not get something thinner? How will you manipulate that at all?
