Cheap scales?

I'm sorta wanting to get a scale. Any idea if food scales work?

What do you use?

How often do you weigh?

There's different weight scales with varies price range. The ones for birds really isn't that expensive at all.

I bought a postage scale with a 3lb capacity at walmart about 10-12 years ago for about $20.
It get's a lot of use. I use it for postage, food, and birds.

Sorry for the horribly ignorant question, but do they have Target stores in Canada?
They had a wide selection of digital kitchen (food) scales that weren't too expensive. I'd say try any store that might have kitchen things, although a specialty kitchen store would be expensive.

No, we don't have target, but we have walmart! Lol! I'll be checking there, since it sounds like food scales work

I bought mine at target for $22, and my friends built me a simple carpet covered perch(not glued on) for it that they use with their raptors.

We have a cheap postage scale that we've used for years. It does both grams and ounces, so it gets used for both weighing birds and measuring food.

We have a flat, digital kitchen scale we use to weight Kiwi. We also got our at bed bath and beyond, I think it was around $20 with a coupon. We set him on the scale and give him a small treat so he'll stay on it long enough for it to register his weight. Not sure if it 100% accurate, but its accurate enough for monitoring any major weight fluctuations at home. Only issue we've had is we use it as a kitchen scale too, so theres been a few time we forgot to set it to grams and weighed him in milliliters of floz instead:09: (and he got a second treat so we could weigh him in grams lol).

Edit: We weigh him once a week, unless theres a reason to weigh him more often (such as suspecting he may be sick or eating too much or something).

I bought my digital scale from harbor freight for about $15.00. It weighs grams, oz and pounds...up to like 11 pounds I think it was. I think they probably have a website

Anyway, I weigh my birds anytime I feel like it and mark it down to keep track...especially if months go by and I don't weigh, then one day...I think...hmmm...lets see what you weigh...and I'm always happy to see that they are all maintaining.

3 weeks ago I adopted a 3 year old Sun Conure....I weighed him the day I brought him home and every few days for the first 2 weeks, just to make sure he was maintaining in his new home.

Got mine from Ebay with free shipping. Ebay has a wide selection of digital scale for under $20 with free shipping. Make sure it can do 1g increment. I use mine for bird, food, and hobby stuff.

Going on the third year with this one. Works great. Looks like a small bathroom scale. I just pick up Chico and place him on it and he stands their like a good boy.
I weigh him about once a week.

Actually yes we do have Target in Canada, they just opened a ton of stores in Quebec. They are basically replacing all the old Zellers stores.
